Machinist: Proliferation @ Roodkapje

Machinist is currently showing ‘Proliferation’ at the Roodkapje art gallery in Rotterdam, The Netherlands (Meent, 119 – 133). Proliferation is a collection of videos exploring the living organisms that make the city. The exhibition also presents Machinist latest release ‘Viens Avec Moi Dans Le Vide’ (Betontoon, 2010).

About Proliferation and Machinist: Zeno van den Broek (Rotterdam, 1982) creates and manipulates spatial experiences with sounds and visuals since 2005 as Machinist. Inspired by modern art, architecture and the contemporary city, he merges sounds, arts and architecture. A combination of visuals and sounds immerses the observer of his works. With his four-piece video Proliferation Machinist investigates the uncontrolled self-organization and evolution of different layers of urban cells.

The also exhibited Viens Avec Moi Dans Le Vide is Machinist his new record, that calls on the auditory senses of the listener to picture an open and wide panoramic vista of emotions with a sharp focus on the horizon. Viens Avec Moi Dans Le Vide gives way to spatiality and slowly ushers the listener out of the cacophony of everyday rumble by means of abstract sounds with melody and spoken word to open a void. The void as the ultimate condition for substance.
